Mineral resources from the Democratic Republic of the Congo — such as gold, cassiterite (tin), coltan (tantalum) and wolframite (tungsten) — are key elements of consumer electronic products and cable assemblies. In addition, these minerals are also contained in a wide variety of other products ranging from automobiles, to aircraft, to cans. In July of 2010, the United States Congress passed legislation requiring public companies to report the use of “Conflict Minerals” in the manufacture of their products. “Conflict Minerals” refers to these specific minerals originating from mines controlled by armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or adjoining countries

LEYCONN is committed to complying with this legislation to enable designation of “Conflict Free” to all products produced; most manufacturers cannot readily provide detailed information as to the smelters, refiners or ultimate sources of the minerals used in manufacturing metal components and electronic parts. We are working with our suppliers to ensure to reach the goal to build a “Conflict Free” supply chain.

There is always more work to be done, but we are committed to taking appropriate steps to ensure that products we receive from our suppliers fully comply with the regulations and build up the forms of minerals trade with the Democratic Republic of the Congo that promote positive economic development for the region.
